Detail of Bath-shire Tapestry,12th century, presently at Royal Museum in London. Documents have records of the character throwing the fire-ball being called the "Low'Kra, night magician" Lochkray knowledge has historically been mistaken for "magic".
The Lochkray existed with a far more complicated level of technology than humans. Referred to as cerebral/organic, the Lochkray did not depend on machines or energy the same way that humans do. During the height of their ascendancy, their ability to draw power and create tools based only on the use of mineral and organic basis gave them a commanding advantage over humans. Even in this modern age, there is no parallel or equal created in our technology to match the advanced knowing the Lochkray once possessed.
Although it is believed that they no longer possess much of the knowledge that they once did, it is known that they still retain much of their advanced understanding in the control of thoughts in other people.
While not so far advanced as to be able to read a person's mind, or control all of their actions, the Lochkray possess an advanced knowledge in the art of hypnotism, which allows them to infiltrate and influence a person's thoughts. This ability is typically employed in the enticement of human victims into releasing their inner energies to the Lochkray. It has even been stated that they are able to utilize this ability without even speaking to their prey.
