Lochkray Social Order & Structure
The majority of Lochkray are female. It is estimated that only 25% of Lochkray are male, leading to some speculation that many Lochkray males are killed at birth
What little is known of the Lochkray social structure is that it is primarily matriarchal, due to the gender population gap. Their primary leaders are all female, leading up to a single "Queen" Lochkray. However, this "Queen", unlike the rest of the Lochkray population, takes on only a single mate. This mate, a male, supersedes the authority of the "Queen", making his the greatest power - That of a "King". While all of the positions of authority in the hierarchal structure of the Lochkray belong to their females, this lone male has the highest control.

Much of this knowledge was gained in the 10th century. The knowledge gained then helped in devising the most effective methods of decimating the Lochkray population. Unfortunately, due to how long ago the information was garnered and recorded, and the drastic population reduction over the centuries, it can only be speculated that the remaining Lochkray still follow a similar pattern of male/female hierarchy in this day.
There has even been theory and evidence on the subject of a lower class of "half-breed" Lochkray - a blend of human and Lochkray. Differing in traditional appearance of full-blooded Lochkray (having hair, differing eye colour, less robust in stature), as well as not being able to feed on humans, they are said to maintain the Lochkray culture, willingly working as a serving class for their Lochkray family. It is unknown why a Lochkray would choose to breed with a human, except possibly for the sole purpose of creating and maintaining a slave population obligated to loyalty.

While it can only be speculated as to the exact way that the Lochkray hierarchy operates, this table illustrates how it is believed that they function socially.

Petroglyph art (carving on rock) is common throughout the world. Similarities in character design have been observed by archaeologists in completely independent ancient populations, on opposite sides of the world. Theories abound as to the reasons for these artistic similarities. Ancient Lochkray used rock carving as a form of communication, and this written language was consistent for all of their societies. While later humans would continue the images in many of the same locations - as well as imitate and emulate existing images - knowing what to look for can allow a person to accurately identify Lochkray text within petroglyph sites. This shows how Lochkray society affected human societies in the past.
